I was reading Seth Godin’s latest post today called, “I’m mad at everyone” and it struck me that I often listened to ‘everyone’ a little too much.
When I was younger, it was taking my friend’s bad advice. Now, it’s taking advice from people that aren’t qualified to give me advice.
Listening to ‘everyone’ tell me what’s right in their eyes, distorted what was right in mine. Well, not anymore! I’m going to take back control over my thoughts and quit letting everyone tell me why I’m wrong.
If we had more people in the world turning off the ‘everyone’ mentality, I believe we wouldn’t be facing some of the major issues we face in today’s society. Being bold and daring often times means laughing at everyone else that says you’re crazy for trying that. It’s the bold and the daring that will change this world.

Great article Brendan. We really should not be listening to other people's bad advice. Follow what is within ourselves and take control of our own minds.

Kind of makes me remember this quote:
“Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson
Too many of us are just following the path that “everyone' else is taking.
After all, only one person's thoughts matter the most. And we both know who.
Right on Adam. It's finding our own path that leads us to greatness.
I totally agree with that. I've always listened to other people that polished my edges. Half a year ago, I did a 180. From that day on, I only listened to myself. You have to embrace your inner voice, and if people label you as being nuts, you know you're on the right way ,)
That's exactly how I feel. Friends call me nuts all the time and I love it! Just means I'm heading in the right direction.
Love this bro. I've struggled with listening to everyone in the past as well. I guess it's just engrained in us to listen to people…it's strange how we even listen to people who AREN'T living the life that we'd like to. A great lesson here in this post to watch who we are learning from.
Very short, but powerful post by my friend @Brendan Wenzel http://brendanwenzel.net/who-does-everyone-think-they-are/ http://bit.ly/aod5b3
