Business Systems and Online Marketing System

Setting up business systems is the absolute must or else it’s just a job in disguise. The more I work with small business owners, the more I realize how many business owners don’t really have a system.

Remember that evil clown? McDonalds?

McDonalds isn’t in the business of selling hamburgers, they are in the business of selling systems that can be done by absolutely anyone. Press this button, flip that burger, throw it in a bag and get money. Done.

I realized today, as I’m setting up a DeskAway project, that my business, like McDonalds’ business, is setting up systems that can be run by anyone. It’s not the niche I’m in. Nor is it whatever I’m selling. My primary responsibility is to make sure that my systems are getting better results with every single action taken in my business.

Having systems in place make it possible to grow. I’ve personally reached that point to where if I did everything myself by hand, I’d go insane. Systems make projects scalable. Meaning that more can get done without more work from you.

I want to start being in the business of making systems and getting out of the business of being in the system. If you want a good starting point to doing this, check out Andrew Hansen’s post on what tasks to focus on and Tim Ferriss’ interview with Michael Gerber.
