One of the best ways that I have found to increase traffic to blog is to borrow the credibility of an “expert”. In my last post, I wrote about the lessons that I learned from Scott Stratten, better known as “@unmarketing” on Twitter. That post has been my best post yet with, as of right now, almost 800 views in 5 days. Here is how I did this and how you can do it too.
It is important to remember when you are borrowing credibility to increase traffic to blog that you give the original creator of the ideas full credit for the information. This is done for a couple of different reasons.
The first and most obvious is that you don’t want to steal ideas, plagiarize or break any copyright laws. You wouldn’t want anyone to take your ideas and claim credit, so don’t do it to anyone else.
The second reason you give the other person credit is because most of the time they will see it and respond. In my case, Scott saw that I posted it on Twitter and he passed it on to his Twitter followers. This got me 100s of views and took my post viral. People that I didn’t even know were sharing the link to my post.
Another way that you can borrow credibility to increase traffic to blog is through interviews. Is there someone that does what you want to do and you want to ask them questions about it? Why not interview them and share the questions and answers with everyone else? This is an honor to the interviewee and helps people see you as a source of information.
